What Are You Buying?

1. Small Space Dehumidifier With 10L/Day Capacity

The Meaco MeacoDry ABC is a small and compact dehumidifier meant for small spaces.

The manufacturer doesn’t provide the exact square feet it can cover, but it works best in 1 bedroom and studio homes and flats.

You can still use it in a bigger home like a 2 or 3 bedroom, but only in a specific room. You can set it up in the living room or one of the bedrooms.

The MeacoDry ABC has a water removal capacity of 10 litres per day. That’s enough to eliminate dampness and condensation from small spaces.

It can also reduce mould and mildew.

2. Built-in Tank and Continuous Drain Option

The water the MeacoDry ABC collects from the air goes into an integrated 2.6 litre tank. When the tank fills up, the unit will automatically shut down to prevent spills.

A ‘tank full’ indicator also lights up on the control panel.

Once you empty the tank, the dehumidifier will resume working.

Many customers say they empty the tank once a day or once every few days. If you live in a very humid area, however, you may find yourself emptying it several times a day.

In that case, the MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier has the option of continuous drainage. You get a regular garden hose and connect it to the unit.

This allows you to direct the condensed water outside or into a floor drain and you don’t have to keep emptying the tank.

3. Multiple Settings Including Humidistat Control

It’s amazing just how many settings are available on the MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier, especially considering its small size.

• Humidistat – our favourite setting. The humidistat button lets you set a preferred humidity level. The dehumidifier will then work to maintain it, periodically turning on and off.
• Laundry mode – if it’s winter or there’s rain and you have to dry laundry inside, turn on laundry mode. It operates the dehumidifier at the highest speed for 6 hours to quickly dry clothes and keep the indoors from getting damp.
• Auto-off timer – You can set the dehumidifier to automatically turn off after a set number of hours. You can set the timer to between 1 and 24 hours.
• Fan speed – Switch to high fan speed when you need fast dehumidification and low fan speed to reduce noise level.
• Child lock – Keeps kids from changing the settings.

4. Quiet Operation

At the highest fan speed, the MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier only produces 40 decibels of noise. Select the low fan speed and this drops to 35 decibels.

At any speed the dehumidifier is super quiet, making it perfect for bedrooms and nurseries.

How Easy Is It To Use?

The MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier has a lot of buttons and lights on the control panel, but you’ll get the hang of them in no time.

Everything is intuitively laid out and well labelled with icons. There’s also a small display that shows the current humidity level as well as the humidity you’ve set.

The indicator lights are really helpful. At a glance, you can see the fan speed, if the tank is full, if you’ve set the timer, and whether the laundry mode is on.

Something else we love about the MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier is its small size. It measures 46.3cm high, 30cm wide and 25cm deep.

You can place the dehumidifier just about anywhere; on the floor, on a table or on your nightstand.

It’s also fairly light (10.5kg) so you can easily move it around the house.

When the tank gets full, it’s easy to remove it from the dehumidifier and empty it. It has a lid to keep water from dripping onto the floor, but it has no handle.

But because it’s small (2.6L), it’s not very heavy when full with water. You can easily lift and carry it with both hands.

What Accessories Are Included?

The MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier doesn’t come with any accessories. But you don’t need anything extra to use it.

If you want to set up continuous drainage, you’ll need to buy a garden hose with 12mm internal diameter and connect it to the drainage spout in the unit.

But unless you live in a high humidity location, you don’t need the hose.

Anything Else You Should Know?

The MeacoDry ABC dehumidifier uses very little power. You’ll likely not notice a major increase in your electricity bill, even if you use it daily.

Its power consumption is just 160W. According to the manufacturer, it uses about 3p/hour (based on a billing rate of 20.06p/kWh).

Something else to note is that there’s a bigger version of the MeacoDry ABC-10 dehumidifier.

The MeacoDry ABC-12 can remove up to 12 litres of water per day, making it ideal for larger spaces and more humid environments.

Other than the water removal capacity, the two units are similar in features and settings.

You can get either unit in several colours, though it’s only the colour of the top part that varies. The rest of the body is white. Colour options include blue, black, green, silver, and white.
