What Are You Buying?

1. Desktop Condenser Mic Compatible With A Wide Range Of Devices

The HyperX QuadCast condenser mic is good enough for both beginner and professional streamers and podcasters. It’s a big step up from basic USB mics.

The QuadCast is a good choice if you are looking for a high quality microphone that has customizable sound settings and is not too expensive.

The HyperX QuadCast is compatible with both Windows and MacOS devices, so you can use it with any PC or Mac.

It interfaces with them via USB 2.0 (compatible with USB 3.0 ports in most modern devices).

The HyperX QuadCast works great for recording audio for different kinds of media such as YouTube videos, podcasts, or music.

2. A Great Mic for Gamers & Streamers

The HyperX QuadCast is also a great microphone for gamers. It is compatible with the PS4 and PS5 gaming consoles.

Unfortunately, the QuadCast microphone is currently not compatible with Xbox.

You can use the HyperX QuadCast mic with various online chat platforms including Discord and TeemSpeak.

In fact, the HyperX QuadCast is officially certified by both Discord and TeemSpeak so compatibility is assured.

It’s also compatible with other chat and streaming services like Skype, Mumble, OBS Studio, and Twitch.

3. Tap to Mute Sensor With Indicator LED

One of the things we like most about the HyperX QuadCast microphone is how easy it is to access various settings. You don’t have to keep fiddling with buttons.

One of the easiest settings is the mute function. Instead of a button, the HyperX QuadCast comes with a tap to mute sensor on top of the microphone.

A simple tap mutes or unmutes the microphone. You can quickly mute it in the middle of a recording and then resume recording with another tap.

Most of the microphone is covered in a red LED light that turns on when you are recording and goes off when you tap the mute sensor. So it’s easy to tell when you are recording or muted.

4. Easy To Adjust Polar Patterns & Gain Control

The HyperX QuadCast has a couple other settings that are also easy to adjust.

The first is a dial that lets you cycle through four polar settings to control from which direction the mic picks up sound from. There are four options: stereo, omnidirectional, bidirectional, and cardioid.

The second is also a dial that’s at the bottom of the mic. This dial adjusts the microphone sensitivity (what’s called gain control). Use it to perfectly dial in your mic’s output volume.

By the way, the QuadCast mic has a 3.5mm jack that you can plug a headset into to monitor what the mic is recording. This will help you adjust the polar and gain settings.

5. Anti-Vibration Mount Plus Pop Filter

The QuadCast mic comes with a stand that has a built-in anti-vibration feature. This eliminates noises and rumbles from the environment.

To further improve recording quality, the HyperX QuadCast also has an internal pop filter that smooths over the pop sounds we often make when recording audio. You don’t need to get a separate pop filter.

How Easy Is It To Use?

The HyperX QuadCast mic is very easy to use.

All the three settings (mute, polar patterns & gain control) are easy to access and adjust. The mute function requires just a tap on top of the microphone while the other two use dials.

The following manufacturer video explains the various settings.

As for setting up the mic with your device, that’s easy too.

You just plug in the microphone with the USB cable then go to device settings and adjust sound input and output. The included manual has all the instructions.

What Accessories Are Included?

The HyperX QuadCast microphone comes complete with a stand, so you can use it as is. It also comes with a mount adapter if you’d like to attach it to a boom arm.

The adapter supports both 3/8” and 5/8″ threading.

You also get a mini USB to USB cable that lets you connect the mic to your PC, Mac or gaming console.

What We Think About It?

Pros

  • Great sound quality.
  • Tap to mute sensor.
  • Gain control and polar pattern settings.
  • Includes anti-vibration stand and pop filter.
  • Compatible with mic stands and boom arms.
  • Wide compatibility with devices and chat services.

Cons

  • The mic is very sensitive. It takes time to learn where to set gain control for the best quality.
  • There’s no way to dim or change the colour of the red LED.

Anything Else You Should Know?

If the unchangeable red LED is a big deal for you, as it is with several users of the HyperX QuadCast, there’s a new mic for you.

The HyperX QuadCast S replaces the red LED light with RGB lighting. It’s an especially great choice for gamers, since they already have lots of RGB stuff.

The QuadCast S is also compatible with the HyperX NGENUITY software that gives you more personalised controls.

Conclusion

The HyperX QuadCast is not a high-end mic, but it’s far better than most entry-level USB mics.

If you want to take your streaming, podcast, gaming chats or voice overs to the next level in terms of audio quality, we highly recommend the HyperX QuadCast microphone.
