What Are You Buying?

1. Powerful Suction

We are used to cordless vacuum cleaners being a lot less powerful compared to corded ones. Not so with the Bosch Athlet Serie 6 cordless vacuum. It spots a large 25.2V battery that drives a powerful suction motor.

The Athlet Serie 6 is one of the most powerful cordless vacuums you’ll find at this price range. It easily picks up large and fine debris on the floor and doesn’t miss a beat when you move it to a carpet.

A few customers even say they have some trouble pushing the vacuum on carpet because of how powerful the suction is.

Whether you are cleaning up a mess in the kitchen or vacuuming the entire house, the Bosch Athlet is up to the task.

To help maintain suction, the Athlet Serie 6 vacuum comes with SmartSensor Control that continually monitors the performance of the vacuum. When it detects a dip in suction, an LED light comes on to let you know it’s time to empty and clean the filter.

2. 65 Minute Runtime & 6hr Recharge Time

After inadequate suction, the next biggest complaint regarding cordless vacuums is limited runtime which makes it hard to vacuum more than one or two rooms.

Instead of the usual 30-50 minute runtime you get even with pricey cordless vacuums, the Bosch Athlet Serie 6 can run for up to 65 minutes. That’s seriously impressive.

To make sure this is not just hype from the manufacturer, we checked customer reviews. While no one has timed it exactly, they say the Athlet Serie 6 lasts longer than most other cordless vacuums they’ve ever used.

You can comfortably vacuum several rooms or your entire home without worrying the vacuum will run out of juice. You won’t have to suffer the embarrassment of a half vacuumed house.

Keep in mind that the exact runtime will depend on the selected power level. If you run the vacuum at the highest power setting, it will obviously not last the stated 65 minutes.

Recharge time is also fairly quick. Once you plug it in, it recharges in 6 hours. So you can leave it plugged in overnight and it’ll be ready for vacuuming in the morning.

3. Motorised Brush

Most vacuum cleaners have a brush roll to help pick up debris. The Bosch Athlet Serie 6 takes it to the next level.

It uses a motorised PowerBrush to provide extra cleaning power. The brush rotates at speeds of up to 3,500 RPM, which comes in handy when you are vacuuming the carpet or cleaning up stubborn dirt.

The brush is fully removable from the vacuum head, making it easy to clean hair, fibre and dirt off it.

4. Cleans All Kinds of Floors

The combination of powerful suction and the PowerBrush means the Bosch Athlet Serie 6 can handle all types of floors including carpets, tiles or wood.

5. Freestanding Design For Easy Storage

The Bosch Athlet Serie 6 has a slim design that makes storage convenient even in tight spaces. It easily fits in a corner out of the way.

But you don’t have to lean it against the wall or corner. The Athlet Serie 6 has a freestanding design that lets you store it wherever you want. This is especially handy when you are charging it. Just plug it in and leave it standing on the floor.

How Easy Is It To Use?

Without a cord trailing behind the vacuum, the Bosch Athlet Serie 6 cordless vacuum is a lot easier to manoeuvre around furniture. You also don’t need to worry about finding a place to plug it in.

At 3.3kg, it is a bit heavier than most cordless vacuums. But since most of the weight is at the bottom of the vacuum, it is still easy to push around on the floor. But several users say it can get a bit difficult to use on the carpet because of the weight and the strong suction.

Cleaning the Athlet Serie 6 vacuum is also easy. The debris canister pops off easily for emptying and the roller brush separates from the vacuum nozzle for easy and quick cleaning.

The one area where the Bosch Athlet Serie 6 is lacking is attachments/accessories. It doesn’t come with upholstery or crevice attachments that would make cleaning easier. It also lacks the flexible hose that’s included with some cordless vacuums for cleaning hard to reach areas.

What We Think About It?

Pros

  • Excellent cleaning performance thanks to powerful suction & rotating brush.
  • Easy to use & clean.
  • Freestanding design that makes storage easy.
  • Ideal for use on all kinds of floors.

Cons

  • May feel a bit heavy for some users like the elderly.
  • No attachments.

Bosch Athlet Serie 6 vs. Serie 8

If you want something even more capable and versatile than the Serie 6, get the Athlet Serie 8 ProHome. It comes with two 18V rechargeable batteries that offer a combined runtime of 65 minutes.

The Serie 8 ProHome also comes with several attachments including a crevice/upholstery tool, a flexible crevice nozzle and a keyboard and drawer nozzle.

There’s also another version of the Athlet Serie 8 that offers a longer runtime. The Serie 8 ProPower has a 36V battery that keeps the vacuum running for up to 80 minutes. It is a great choice for extra-large homes or if you vacuum your home multiple times a day.

Conclusion

You don’t have to make a compromise on power and cleaning performance when switching from a corded vacuum cleaner to a cordless one.

The Bosch Athlet Serie 6 is almost as good as a traditional vacuum, even on carpet, while being more convenient and versatile.
