The Bose Soundlink Revolve is a battery powered, tubular portable Bluetooth speaker that delivers great bass and overall audio quality despite the smaller size.

I’ve used Bluetooth speakers since I was a teenager and I’ve got to admit, there’s a major upgrade in the Soundlink’s quality – both audio and hardware.

Starting from the outside, this model is housed in an aluminum enclosure which gives it a fair degree of protection from all the clutter in my backpack. Coupled with the water resistance, you can still keep the party going outside even when it starts to rain. Bose incorporated a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that holds power for up to 12 hours. I can’t tell you how many times my guests have asked me how on earth that small, loud thing on the table still isn’t out of juice.

How Easy Is It to Use?

From the ergonomic exterior all the way to the control panel, the Bose SoundLink Revolve Bluetooth Speaker is quite user friendly. The tapered cylindrical shape makes the speaker easy to grab, pack and go. And since you already know it’s water resistant (IPX4), you don’t have to worry about damaging it at a pool party or out in the rain.

I’ve had a little water on mine, but I’ve never really pushed to see how water resistant the Soundlink is. Remember, it’s not waterproof, so don’t dunk it.

At the top of the SoundLink Revolve Bluetooth Speaker is a control panel with 6 clearly labeled buttons that go all around the top. There’s the power on and off button, Bluetooth button, volume controls, and speakerphone.

Depending on the volume you’re playing your music at, the speaker will last for more than 12 hours – 16 at the lowest setting. Once the power is running low, Bose provided a USB cable and power plug so you can charge it. You can also purchase a charging cradle so you can make a semi-permanent sound setup in the house.

Bose took things to a whole new level on the next user friendly feature here. Thanks to voice prompts, users can easily take calls with the built in speakerphone. What’s more, the SoundLink gives you access to Google now and Siri right from your speaker. I found this very helpful and part of the reason why I went for the SoundLink as opposed to some of the well-known smart speakers.
